Google Pixel 4a – What’s To Come?

With so many different handsets due to be released this year, there are rumours everywhere. Especially with the Google Pixel 4a but, what’s to come? From prices to models to designs to camera specifications, the rumours have not stopped. We have seen the Pixel 4a scattered all over the internet these last few months.

Rumoured Release Date and Prices

Currently, we haven’t seen any specs or images from Google on the Pixel 4a. They haven’t released too much on when you can expect the phone to be released or the price either. Rumours suggest that July 13th is a strong date in which we can expect the device to be announced. It is likely that we can expect the new Google phone to be released some time in July with a shipping date shortly after. A few expectations suggest that the model may be held back and released as the Pixel 5a in October.

Unfortunately, we don’t yet know what the price could be for the Google Pixel 4a. There really haven’t been too many suspicions around this area. There have been a few times where the handset has been listed on different websites with one mentioning $399 and another mentioning €509. Of course, these are two completely different price tags and neither has been confirmed nor denied. We would expect that the price falls somewhere in the middle of these two figures.

Design Expectations

Any rumours that surround the design on the Pixel 4a are going to be pretty close to what we can expect. With a few photos and render leaks, you can get a pretty good idea of this phone. The overall size of the phone is suggested to be slightly smaller coming in at 144.2 x 69.5 x 8.2 mm. This would be the slightest bit smaller than the 3a however, you would find more screen. After removing as much bezel as possible, you should be able to experience a much fuller display than any other pixel.

We can almost guarantee that the Google Pixel 4a will have a plastic or polycarbonate back. This has been widely suggested and hasn’t really varied for the entire lifetime of the phone being produced. With this strong material on the back, you should also expect to receive a fingerprint sensor on the back too. This will allow quick and secure access to the phone at all times.

Reports show that we should expect at least two different colours with Just Black and Barely Blue. It was earlier anticipated that we would have 3 options with black, white and teal with different coloured buttons. With these two colour options, you can choose for a more laid back style or something a little more colours. With both colour variants, you should expect the same matte design all over.

What’s Under the Hood?

It’s not expected that the new pixel devices are going to be 5G. In fact, they’re expected to feature the Snapdragon 730, a standard 4G chip. This would allow for some great speeds when it comes to processing as well as an efficient battery. A few leaks have shown links to other chipsets however, the 730 is continually popping up in the tech world to be related to the Google Pixel 4a.

To pair with this device, you should be able to purchase 64GB or 128GB of internal memory. For the size and price of this device, these memory options would be more than enough. If you did feel like you needed some more, you’ll have quick access to Google Drive to save your data.

More information surrounding what’s keeping the Pixel 4a going was leaked regarding the battery in this phone. A few suggestions show a 3080mAh battery. Whilst this is a little lower than a lot of phones on the market today, it’s not far off the previous model battery size, which kept the phone online for quite some time. A battery of this size would work incredibly well with the 4a as it is a mid range smartphone.

Google Pixel 4a Camera

Google has never really expanded the size of their cameras, they tend to stick with single lens cameras on both the front and back of their phones. With the Google Pixel 4a, this is no less. The leaked renders show that there is a single camera lens, paired with an LED flash housed in the back of the phone. Suggestions show that this is the same camera set up as that in the Pixel 4. This would give the user a very neat, clean camera capable of producing images with high amounts of detail and plenty of colour.

If this is so the case, you can expect that there will be a 12.2MP lens in the back of the phone. Paired with optical image stabilisation and a range of different AI features, you’ll be able to produce some amazing smartphone pictures. So far, the sample pictures from the Pixel 4a have shown that the camera is super clear and captures high levels of detail.

In the front screen, in the top right corner, you should be able to find the selfie camera. Again, following with the Pixel 4 set up, this is expected to be an 8MP lens with Bokeh capabilities, This hasn’t been set in stone however, you would be able to create some breathtaking images. With Bokeh, your portraits will pop and catch people’s eyes each time they look at it. Adding this feature would really make the user experience on the 4a much more high end.

It’s important to remember that these Google Pixel 4a rumours haven’t yet been confirmed. We won’t know the ins and outs of the device until Google confirms each and every rumour so make sure to keep an eye out!
