Without a doubt, weak signals are why calls drop the most. Weak signal also affects data and texts as well. When you\u2019ve got weak signal, you\u2019re probably not going to be able to get hold of anyone. You\u2019ll be able to tell whether you\u2019ve got signal or not thanks to the bars in the top corner. Most of the time, you\u2019ll have weak signals because you\u2019re further away from a mobile phone tower than you should be. The further you go from a cell tower, the worse your signal is going to get, until you\u2019re in range of the next one. These are called dead zones.<\/p>\n

Normally, you won\u2019t find dead zones in built up places or places with larger populations. There aren\u2019t too many mobile phone towers in the countryside where there aren\u2019t towns as it just isn\u2019t feasible. The line of signal will also affect whether or not you can take calls. For example, if you\u2019re at the peak of a mountain, you\u2019re probably going to get pretty good signal. If you\u2019re below sea level, in a low cave possibly, you\u2019re not going to get signal. At the end of the day, the signal just doesn\u2019t curve with the earth.<\/p>\n

To be completely honest, there isn\u2019t too much you can actually do when it comes to a dead zone. They are purely because you have wandered too far from a mobile tower. As soon as you\u2019re within range of a tower again, you will be absolutely fine. If you don\u2019t travel through dead zones too much, you\u2019re best off just waiting until you\u2019re nearer to a mobile tower before taking the call. If you regularly experience them or even live in one, a mobile phone signal booster should be able to solve your problems however, won\u2019t completely eliminate them.<\/p>\n

There are a few different things that can block mobile signals, some man made and some natural. Building Materials<\/h2>\n

That\u2019s right, building materials can actually make your calls drop. This is obvious when you can\u2019t get signal or hold calls in one specific building. Outside the building, you\u2019re able to use your phone to its full potential however, inside the building, calls are dropping and texts aren\u2019t sending. A lot of the time, people will need to leave the building just to take a call, which can be a serious inconvenience, especially if you\u2019re taking calls all day and a few floors up.<\/p>\n

When your calls are dropping due to the materials of the actual building you\u2019re in, it\u2019s pretty easy to identify. You\u2019ll know it\u2019s the building as other people around you will be having the same problem. You will also be able to take calls outside with no issue. The materials of this specific building are blocking any signals from getting through. Buildings that are made of reinforced concrete or sheet metal are likely to be big signal blockers, among a lot of other materials. Usually, these cause either week signals or blocks off any sort of signal.<\/p>\n
