The Moto E6 Play due for Release According to Recent Renders

Motorola has been churning out great quality budget phones for several years and they continue to update and improve the line as time goes on. The most recent line to be released is the E6 range. This is an improvement on last year’s E5 range. What has been odd though is whilst the E5 range had a standard, plus variant and a play variant the E6 range only had the standard version. This line was added to in September when the E6 Plus variant was announced. However, this was only for customers in Europe and South America.

What the Plus Brings

Dutch website Mobielkopen has got its hands-on renders of a new E6 Play variant. These renders were released via the Android Central website and show the newest version of the phone. This shows a device with an 18:9 aspect ratio display. Elsewhere you can see a 3.5mm headphone jack which tends to be standard on most Motorola budget handsets. Elsewhere there appears to be a micro-USB charging port rather than the newer USB-C that most phones these days have. The back of the phone is pretty uncluttered with it only appearing to have a single camera lens and a fingerprint reader, though the arrangement of them makes it seem like it might have a dual-lens camera. Though this would be unlikely.

Design Aspects

The renders do show a device that has had its design paid attention to. The rear of the phone features an amazing glossy panel. They appear to be a choice of colours with the standard Black being in evidence alongside a rather fetching Teal green colour which shows off the glossy nature perfectly. The front screen is nicely designed though it does have a rather large bezel. Of particular note is the chin of the phone which is rather large and pronounced. This is normally to incorporate a physical home button or a company logo. Though neither of these is in evidence in the renders.

Great Price Point

The Play variant of the E5 range sat right in the middle price point and therefore also sat in the midpoint of features and specifications as well. It is anticipated that the same will be true for the E6 Play. This will be a fantastic budget handset and continue Motorola’s tradition of creating fantastic budget handsets. When it comes to the other specs it is still not known what we will get in it. So things such as battery life, chipset and the version of android you will get are still unknown at this time. When it came to the standard E6 this was a bare improvement over the E5, therefore, we hope that the E6 play will feature much better specs. What is certain though is the decision to keep using the micro-USB port for charging is a little odd. This is likely done for budget reasons but there can’t be much of a difference in cost to include a USB-C charging port instead.
