This handset is one of the most impressive in the A range as it carries quite a few different features that are more updated. From the huge camera system to the fresh design, there’s nothing you won’t love about this phone.

About the Samsung Galaxy A71

For a lot of people, style is everything when it comes to a smartphone. Lucky for them, the Samsung Galaxy A71 has plenty of that. This device has a plastic back which offers a seriously eye catching finish. Available in Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush Silver, Prism Crush Blue and Prism Crush Pink, you can choose your own style. For something a little more laid back, the black and silver options are perfect. When you want to add a pop of colour to your smartphone, the Blue and Pink variants are the best contenders.

Making sure you get to enjoy this design as much as possible, the camera set up on the back is neatly packed into a small raised housing. This keeps it super neat and clean. In this camera is actually a 64MP main camera, which you’ll find yourself using almost every day. There is also a 12MP ultra wide camera, 5MP macro lens and a 5MP depth sensor. Using the Galaxy A71 camera, you’re going to be able to capture the world in a whole new light. Get creative with your photography and produce eye catching images all day.

There are hundreds of amazing features in this smartphone that bump it to the top of the ladder when you come to search for your next one. One of these is the under display, optical fingerprint sensor. This allows you to securely unlock your device without having to use a passcode. Simply place your finger on the screen and you’re good to go. Moving this feature from the back of the phone or even side of it makes using it far easier. There’s no need to stretch or move the phone in order to use it.

Limitations

Most new Samsung smartphones actually have a very high tolerance against dust and water. With anything newer than the S7, you’ll be able to enjoy the phone around water without the worry of breaking it. That being said, Samsung haven’t actually had the Galaxy A71 officially IP tested. It’s not too common to see the A range have the official IP test as it’s not the largest focus. Samsung will test the S series and the Notes. Although it may not have an official test, that doesn’t mean it can’t withstand water damage, it just means you have to be careful.

There have been plenty of different tests carried out on the Samsung Galaxy A71 to find out just how water resistant it is. You will still find an audio jack on the phone so it’s not going to be as resistant as a lot of other devices out there. You’re not going to want to take the A71 in any depth of water for any amount of time. One this phone is submerged, it’s likely that water will get in and damage the internal workings in seconds. Unfortunately, that does mean no underwater selfies or videos.

We’ve taken a look at a few source waterproof tests on the Samsung Galaxy A71. None of these are official IP tests so it’s not guaranteed that you will get the same outcome should you try it yourself. After submerging the phone in water, the tests found there were no issues with the display itself. They did however find that different buttons on the phone had stopped responding, especially the volume keys. Most sources concluded that the Samsung Galaxy A71 is splashproof to a certain degree. Overall, we wouldn’t suggest going for a swim with this smartphone.
