iPhone Privacy Features

There are so many iPhone privacy features that make iPhones some of the most secure devices on the market, but what are they? Well, we’re whittling it all down for you. From different apps to new controls, there are so many features keeping you safe.

Safari

Safari is the internet browser that is automatically downloaded onto all iOS devices. This browser is actually protected with Intelligent Tracking Prevention. This is software which stops cookies from sharing your activity with advertisers. When you’re on social media, you may notice adverts for items you’ve been looking at recently. This is because advertisers track your activity using cookies. The software on Safari stops personalised ads by not allowing advertisers to track your cookies. This is defaulted so you don’t have to set it up.

Another of the iPhone privacy features on Safari is the Privacy Report. You can easily access this through Safari to view the report at any point. This report shows you which sites have been blocked from tracking your activity. This way, you can avoid multiple sites on other browsers to stay safe.

One more feature on Safari is password monitoring. A lot of people choose to remember their logins when signing up for websites. This can make logging back in so much easier. Password monitoring on Safari checks to see if your saved passwords have been compromised. If they have been, Safari will notify you to change them.

Maps

Another app that is automatically downloaded onto an iPhone is Apple Maps. This allows users to get directions to locations all over the world. A great feature of this app is that it’s personalised. There are a number of features, such as parked car, that help you keep your information safe but useful. Parked car uses data on the device to help you find your way back to your car. This data is not at all linked to your person. This minimises the data sent to Apple, keeping as much of your data private as possible.

Something that is very popular on Apple Maps is location fuzzing. This converts exact locations that you’ve been to using Apple Maps to less specific locations within 24 hours. This obscures locations on Apple servers and makes sure that you’re doing everything in private.

Photos

Keeping your photos safe is one of the most important things. That’s why Apple has put hundreds of iPhone privacy features on the default photos apps. One of the biggest features is the sharing controls. Whether you’re sharing your photos through iMessage, emails or even AirDrop, you can make sure you’re sharing the information you want to share. You can edit the history of the photo to make sure you’re not sharing too much information. For example, you can remove or include locations and even remove depth data.

You can also control the information different apps have on your photos. When you first open an app, you’ll be able to choose which images an app has access to. You do have the option to change these permissions every time you reopen the app. These permissions will allow you to give complete access, specific access or no access to your photo apps.
