How does cashback work?

A lot of mobile phone deals on the market include cashback amounts to reduce the price but how does cashback work with the different contract lengths? Of course, different types of cashback require different methods to get your hands on it. Whether you’ve got an automatic deal or redemption included, it’s going to be a great idea to make sure you really understand how they work.

Reasons for cashback

There are hundreds of different reasons as to why we include cashback in our deals. For starters, they allow us to offer a wider range of phone contracts with different prices and packages. The different types of cashback mean we can offer a wider market the right deal. Each cashback option has a different method of claiming, suiting different lifestyles and personalities. The main reason anyone offers cashback is to make their phone deals the best. Cashback will effectively reduce the price of your contract and can be reduced or increased to suit the needs.

Automatic Cashback

Automatic cashback is the simplest form of cashback. There’s absolutely nothing you have to do in order to receive this payment. Essentially, we are paying you for paying your monthly bills! If you do not pay your bills to the network, we will not pay out on this cashback amount. These amounts will be far less than redemption due to the fact that they are simply paid out.

Any automatic cashback amount will be processed by our internal finance team after 90 days of your contract being live. You will usually then receive the payment in the next 14 days. This cashback will be paid directly into your bank account using the details given on the order. For this reason, you must make us aware if there are any changes to your banking. Please note that updating your details with the network will not update them with us and vice versa.

12 Month Redemption Cashback

You won’t tend to find 12 month phone contracts on Metrofone however, the majority of our SIM only offers are 12 month. Of course, we fully understand that people want the best prices for their SIM contracts too. With a 12 month redemption cashback, you will have to claim for the cashback 5 times throughout your contract.

The claiming process is super simple. All you need to do is log into your Metrofone account and fill out a claim form. You’ll be asked to upload the bill from the month you’re trying to claim for. Once this is submitted, you’ll receive an email letting you know the claim will be reviewed. This is processed within 14 working days and an email is sent to update you. You will need to submit a new claim with the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 12th bill of your contract. You have 60 days from your bill date to submit these.

How does cashback work on 18 month contracts?

Again, we don’t offer 18 month phone contracts regularly, but they are something you’ll find with SIM only deals. The process for claiming redemption cashback is the same across all contract lengths however, the claiming dates will  differ. With 18 month redemption cashback, you will need to claim using your 6th, 9th, 12th, 15th and 18th bill from the network. Claiming is as simple as logging into your Metrofone account and filling out a form.

Once you have submitted your claim form, you’ll get an email to confirm this. From the date of submission, we will review the cashback claim within 14 working days. Once the claim is accepted, it will be pad directly into your bank account. If there are any issues with the submission, you will receive an email with any possible reasons.

24 Month Redemption Cashback

If you’re taking out a phone contract with cashback included, it’s going to be a 24 month offer. We very rarely offer phone contracts that are a different length to this. With 24 month deals, you’ll need to claim using your 6th, 9th, 12th, 15th and 18th bill received from the network. You should always count the bills rather than the months to make sure you’re submitting the right bill.

To submit your claim, just log on to your Metrofone account through the website. The first email you had received from us will contain a link to set a password. Click through to the claim form and submit your bill for the claim months along with a few simple details. This will be passed through to our finance team and reviewed within 14 working days. Any accepted claims will be paid directly into the bank account given on the order. Any rejected claims will receive an email with any reasons as to why.

Reasons for Rejection

Of course, if your cashback does get rejected, you’re going to want to know why. This way, you can rectify the mistakes and fix them for next time. Unfortunately, if a claim is rejected and not reclaimed successfully within the 60 days, we are not able to pay out on the cashback. This does result in you losing out on the cashback for that period. We also do not remind you that the cashback needs to be claimed for, nor that the 60 days is coming to an end. We do suggest setting alarms or reminders for this.

One reason your cashback may be declined is due to the details on the claim form not matching your bill or the order with us. It’s important to make sure you update us with any address or name changed. You’ll also need to make sure that the details entered on the claim form are correct, especially the bill date.

If your contract changes from the tariff purchased with us, for whatever reason, we will not be able to pay the cashback. We specifically pair cashback with each deal. If this deal is then changed, it affects the cashback. This will result in the cashback being completely removed.
