Best Apple CarPlay Apps

There are so many different best Apple CarPlay apps available to really up your experience. From sound, podcast and messaging apps, they’ve got it all. If you don’t already know, Apple CarPlay is something that you can enjoy in newer cars. It gives you the chance to view your phone on the car’s display. Of course, it’s much more reduced but saves you from looking down at your phone, potentially saving lives

Waze

Of course, we would have to cover off a number of different map apps for Apple CarPlay. There generally isn’t a genre of apps made more for this feature. Waze is one of the more modern navigation apps and gives you more than just the way from point A to point B. When using Waze, you can see all your fellow wazers on the road. With so many people using this app, it also means you’re up to date with the latest traffic collisions, road works and anything else that may slow you down. Waze follows real time traffic to make sure that you make it on time wherever you’re going.

BBC Sounds

If you’re like the average person nowadays, you probably listen to some sort of music in the car. Searching for the different frequencies between radios is quite frankly just inconvenient and uses too much time. To overcome that one bump in the road, we were offered the BBC Sounds app. Through this app, you can access all the different BBC radio stations by just tapping the one you want. There’s also access to a huge range of different podcasts and mixes. You’ll even get a personalised playlist created once you’ve used it a few times. These range from news stations to sports updates.

Apple Maps

As Apple CarPlay is an iOS feature, you can already imagine just how well the iOS apps are going to fit in with it. Making sure you’ve got everything in one place, Apple Maps works better than any other navigation app. Your car display will show everything you used to see on your phone, just bigger. You can edit the destination, view your arrival time and even find faster routes without ever touching your phone. Better yet, Apple Maps is due a huge update which should allow you to find even more up to date traffic news.

iHeartRadio

Again, looking through different frequencies is so boring. As one of the most enjoyed radio stations in the UK, Heart needed to grow with the times. In doing so, they created their very own app, iHeartRadio. This is a completely free app and gives you access to everything they offer. Listen to live radio stations or even play catch up and listen to the older things. Sometimes, radio stations just aren’t playing the right kind of music. For that reason, Heart has added a playlist feature, giving you access to different moods, genres and artists at any point of the day.

WhatsApp

If you still don’t know what WhatsApp is in 2020, you must have been living under a rock for the past few days. For years, we’ve required messaging apps that don’t use up our texts or cost us anything. Just a few years back, unlimited texts weren’t a thing, making WhatsApp the most popular online messaging app. Since we’ve all gained unlimited tariffs, WhatsApp still doesn’t charge us for sharing larger data files, such as photos. Whilst saving money, it’s an app we all love. When using WhatsApp with Apple CarPlay, you’ll be able to see any ongoing conversations and quickly respond to them.

Audible

There are a huge amount of online audio books available however, nothing quite works as well as Audible does. When you use this app with Apple CarPlay, you’re able to view an almost exact copy of the screen. Quickly pause, fast forward or even change your audio books in a matter of seconds. Having Audible on your phone is perfect for when you’re just not feeling music. Find all your favourite books or even explore something a little new. You even get a whole free audio book when you join! Give Audible a taste and see if it’s perfect for you.

iMessage

Again, Apple CarPlay is designed to work hand in hand with iOS apps. iMessage is one of the most compatible iOS apps in our opinion. On your car display, you’ll see a range of recent contacts that you’ve had text conversations with. From here, you can quickly access new messages and even use Siri to send other people texts. There’s really no reason to pick up your phone when it comes to Apple CarPlay. You’ll even be able to add emojis to your texts without ever touching your phone. Make sure you’ve got the latest version of iMessage so it works perfectly.

Spotify

There has been a battle between a few different music apps as to which one takes the top spot. For a few years, Spotify has been sitting in the top three. With a monthly subscription, you’re able to listen to all your favourite songs without any interrupting adverts. Even add them to your very own playlist so you can access them later. On CarPlay, you can easily switch between songs and playlists. You’ll even find that your actual phone doesn’t allow you to change songs from there whilst connected to CarPlay.
